Another month has passed bringing us just a little closer to the end of our stressful semester, which will hopefully coincide with more time to read, blog, and just enjoy ourselves overall. We know we’ve been pretty inactive over here, but hopefully that will be changing soon! Anyways, let’s talk about the books we managed to read this month!

Students in middle of the semester
Books Read:
Malka:
Honestly, this month was super rough. They call this semester “death row” in my major, and for good reason. It’s time consuming, difficult, and draining. It has put me in a perpetual slump that nothing can really penetrate. I feel as if the more I type the more woe is me this will turn into. So I’ll stop here. But yes. School is sucking out all the joy in my life and because of that I haven’t been reading much. So enjoy hearing about the 4 books I managed to finish this month!
This book was a big surprise for me! I had it out from the library for a month or two and never picked it up. Then one weekend, I wasn’t interested in any of the books I owned, so I picked it up and was immediately hooked! This is both a fantastic retelling and just a fantastic book in its own right! I now cannot wait to read Uzma Jalaluddin’s newest book that comes out in April!
A Lady’s Formula For Love was cute, but I think my slump kept me from enjoying it to its fullest. I will probably be continuing on with the series though, and hopefully I pick that one up at a less stressful time and enjoy it more!
As for Do You Want to Start a Scandal, it was cute, and it was fun, but it wasn’t much more than that for me. A solid read, but not a new favorite.
As you’ll see in a later section, I was lucky enough to get this book for review on NetGalley. I was so excited for it, and practically started it immediately. And then I was let down. I’ll save my full thoughts for the review that I’ve already written, but this was a pretty big disappointment for me.
Chana:
I read 9 books this month and I really enjoyed all of them! I haven’t been active at all on the blog but I’m happy that I managed to read things I enjoyed.
This book was SO GOOD! I’m going to write a full review eventually but every single aspect of The Shadow of the Gods was phenomenal. It’s a norse inspired fantasy that follows three different characters. Usually when I read books with multiple POVs I get bored of one or two after a bit, but all the POV’s in this book were fascinating.
Both of these were great! I honestly would rate the both of these more of a 3.5 star than a 3 star, buttt I’m categorizing these like Goodreads and Goodreads doesn’t do any half star ratings 😭
Books Acquired:
Malka:
I feel as though I didn’t get that many books in March, but now that I’m putting together this wrap up I see that’s not true. Oh, well! More books for me to read! What’s wrong with that?
Purchased:
I had to get myself a copy of Act Your Age, Eve Brown because of how much I loved it! I’m so happy to own the complete set of the Brown Sisters Series! Then of course I stocked up on some more romances. (I thought I’d have a chance to pick one or two up over spring break, but that didn’t end up happening.) And I purchased the most recent Spy x Family manga, since I plan on binging the volumes that are released sometime soon.
NetGalley:
Publisher:
I was lucky enough to get an e-ARC of this book a few months back, and was really enjoying what I was reading. So I requested a physical copy from the publisher, which they so graciously granted me! Of course, in that time I fell into a slump, but I’m hoping to finish this book as soon as I get my reading spirit back!
Chana:
Purchased:
I’m so happy about these purchases! I’ve already read the both of these and (as you can see by my ratings above) I loved them!
From Publisher:
I have been BLESSED this month in terms of ARCs/books from publishers! Also I’m happy because even if blog burnout continues this still means that I have lots of reviews to post! (which I know aren’t generally super popular, so, oops).
Things We Did:
Malka:
And so we have another month where I can’t remember a single exciting thing that I did. Hmmmmm. I really can’t think of anything! My goal for April is to have something new to talk about. (But also don’t hold me to that. I’m a stressed out college student that doesn’t do much besides study or do HW.)
I got to see some family that I hadn’t seen in months which was exciting, and I got tasked with a big project at work that I really enjoyed completing. So even though my life hasn’t been super exciting, there have been some bright moments where I get a break from school and can focus on other things that make me happy.
Chana:
I bought and built a mini bookshelf! And then I bought two houseplants! Unfortunately one of them has died. RIP Frog. You were loved but honestly you were way too frail to just up and die within a week of me getting you, dramatic af imo.

I’m so glad you liked Aisha At Last, the representation is great. Lovely wrap up guys!! ❤

Ayesha at Last was fantastic! Hana Khan Carries On will probably be the next book I buy! I thought the rep was handled really well, and although I’m not own voices, there were definitely a lot of elements that I related to, coming from a religious minority.
Thank you! 💕

My favourite book in March was Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. A Universe of Wishes anthology, and Are We There Yet? by Kathleen West

I hope uni gets easier in the next months, sending you my best wishes // 🐸 does sound a little dramatic. And I am glad you both had at least a read you enjoyed last month.

Thank you! There are just 6 more weeks filled with projects, presentations, reports, quizzes, and finals, and then we’ll get a break! I’m counting down the days!
I’m very happy that I managed to read something that I enjoyed during such a slumpy time. Hopefully I read even more books that I love in April!
I hope you have a wonderful month!

Same thing happens to me, Chana. I’m just like, “Fine, I didn’t need you anyway” even though it breaks my heart when one dies. Haha! Rest in Peace, Froggy! Great post, gals!

😭😭 I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong!! (Probably lack of proper attention and care, but still!)

I have the same questions many of them time…my main problem is I don’t water them enough…MAYBE that’s the problem…depending on the temperature and humidity in your house they may need less or more water. Also, make sure you giving them enough light. Indirect light from a northern or eastern window are USUALLY best…usually.

Okay so… Pesach… I mean, when did anyone Jewish have time for anything in March aside from Pesach? (Okay, so this year, because we recently moved to a new apartment, there was less to do for the holiday, and my sister hosted the Seder at her house, so… but still…!)

So true! I love Pesach, but it definitely takes a lot of preparation! And mixing that with school and assignments just doesn’t go well! But I was happy to spend time with my family and get a little break even if I didn’t read as much as I hoped I would!
