September Reading Wrap Up

Hello again! We’re finally bringing you our September wrap up! If you’ve read our
Life Update
then you’ll know how crazy things are for us with school. But we’re trying our best, and if that means that irregular posting is the only way to stay sane, then our posts will be popping up in your inboxes at surprising times only.

We’ve decided to keep this post just as a reading update since we mentioned most of our other goings-on in our Life Update. So if you’re interested in how our reading went in the (super long) month of September, read on!

Books Read:

Malka:

September was an interesting month. Since it was so busy I ended up reading a lot of romance and rereading a fair amount. Although some of the rereading had to do with the fact that I wanted to be prepared for Wayward Son. The other books I read were also pretty great, so it definitely was a quality over quantity kind of month.

I will say that I still don’t have a rating for Wayward Son even 2 weeks later. It’s somewhere between a 4 and a 5, and I’m leaving it undecided until I’m sure about how I want to rate it. I loved it but there are some things that make me feel weird about giving it a full 5 stars. That’s all I’ll say for fear of spoilers, but if you’re interested in more of my in depth thoughts, let me know!

I also want to shout out The Arrival of Someday. I have a draft of my review for that book, so hopefully, that will get posted later this month. I know that I rarely read reviews for books I haven’t heard of before, but I urge you to read mine when it comes out because it’s also very much a discussion about disability rep and what this book did right!

5 Stars:

Fangirl carry on

Undecided:

Wayward Son B&N

4 Stars:

The Duke's Stolen Bride The Arrival of Someday The Lost & Found Begin End Begin The Duchess in His BEd

3 Stars:

Brazen and the Beast

Chana:

I read 17 books this month! Which is absolutely insane. September felt like it was 6 months long, and I’m kind of glad it’s finally over. Most of the books I read this month ended up getting high ratings. Some of my favorites were This Story is a Lie, Wicked Fox, and Wayward Son. I also posted two reviews, one for Sword and Pen and another for It’s a Whole Spiel. I was supposed to have some other reviews go up about a week ago, but they’ll hopefully be up in about a week or two instead.

Books Acquired:

Malka:

I way have only bought one book this month, but as a sneak-peek into October, we’re only a week or so in and I already have 3 more copies of Wayward Son, and a bunch of books from when I went to New York Comic-Con. So I’m not too upset by the fact that only my most anticipated release of the year made this list.

Wayward Son B&N

Chana:

So I’ve noticed a sort of trend this month. When my friends are out of town I don’t really buy that many books. However, when they come back from summer vacations I suddenly find myself buying a lot more books. This is probably because we mainly hang out by going to bookstores. Basically from now on any huge splurges that happen bookwise, I’m blaming my friends.

  1. WOW! 17 books is incredible Chana!! I liked This Story is a Lie too. I feel like its an underappreciated book, but maybe that’s me.

I actually find rereading books soothing when I’m stressed. Especially romances. And I’ll certainly look for that disability review when it comes out Malka!!

I hope the start of your school year goes well and you’re able to keep reading and posting when you can. ❤️❤️❤️

    1. Right now I’m in the *biggest* reading slump and kind of wish I could get some of that September energy back 😂

I’m super excited to get back into posting and blog hopping! After completely dropping off the grid for 4 months I can’t wait to catch up on all of your posts!

    1. 😂😂 I need to relearn how I did it too because so far this year I have read a total of 3 books!

The start of the school year went well! In just one week we’re going to be starting Spring semester though, so that’s something to look forward to 😪

    1. I know I’m about 3 months late, but I’M SO HAPPY TO HEAR! That book is one of my ultimate faves, so it makes me so happy to hear that you enjoyed it! And I hope you end up enjoying Lost & Found, since it’s really good and I haven’t heard many bloggers talk about it.

Thanks so much! I’m excited to get back into the blogging world and see what everyone has been reading while I’ve been gone!

  3. Life happens all the time and you can only do what you can do and try to stay sane. I read and enjoyed Wicked Fox too. In September I read a few graphic novels, including Pumpkin Heads which I loved. Now I plan to read more by Rainbow Rowell.

    1. That’s very true. Apparently to stay sane we had to drop blogging entirely for the remainder of the semester, which was pretty sad. I’m so happy to hear you loved Pumpkinheads! My favorite Rainbow Rowell books are Fangirl and Carry On, so if you haven’t already checked those out, I’d highly recommend them!

    1. Thank you!! Sorcery of Thorns was so good! I really need to read An Enchantment of Ravens since I’ve heard that it’s just as good.

It’s been 3 months so I’m not sure if you’ve gotten to the books on your TBR but if you have, I hope you enjoyed them! And if you haven’t I hope you do enjoy them! 💕
