I Should Have Read That Tag

It’s time for another tag! The wonderful Crystal @ Paper Royalty  and Rachael @ Bath and Books tagged us to do the I Should Have Read That tag which was created by Beth @ Books Nest. We’re super excited to do this tag, because who doesn’t love listing all the books you said you would read and then didn’t?

A BOOK THAT A FRIEND IS ALWAYS TELLING YOU TO READ

Chana: Malka has been telling me to read Eliza and her Monsters for agesssss. And I really do have to get to it since it looks really good.

Elizaand Her Monsters

Malka: Chana has told me more than once to read The Eli Monpress series, and I’ve even gotten it out from the library (twice), but I need to actually dedicate my time to it. So hopefully I’ll get to it in the summer!

A BOOK THAT’S BEEN ON YOUR TBR FOREVER, YET YOU STILL HAVEN’T PICKED IT UP

Chana: Literally any book that I’ve picked up at a convention and then forgotten that I owned. In two months it’ll have been a year since I got That’s Not What Happened, but I still don’t seem to be any closer to reading it.

That's Not What Happened

Malka: Hmmm. This is a tough one. I’m going to go with Little Fires Everywhere. Even though it’s not the oldest book on my TBR, it’s the one I’m most intrigued by that I haven’t read yet, even after having it for over a year.

little fires everywhere

A BOOK IN A SERIES YOU STARTED BUT HAVEN’T GOTTEN ROUND TO FINISHING YET

Chana: Hahahaa. I have so many of these. I am a chronic abandon series in middle, because other books capture my attention kind of gal. Right now I really want to finish the Gentlemen Bastard series, since I only have one book left to that series.

The Lies of Locke Lamora

Malka: Kingdom of Ash. I’m mentioning this one because I hope to finish the series this month and I’d like to be held accountable. Although honestly, just starting this behemoth of a finale in April is a win for me.

Kingdom of Ash

A CLASSIC YOU’VE ALWAYS LIKED THE SOUND OF, BUT NEVER ACTUALLY READ

Chana: Pride and Prejudice is the first thing that comes to mind. I have read a lot of classics but that is one that I want to read just so that I can watch the multiple movies.

Pride and Prejudice

Malka: I’m super intrigued by Frankenstein! I really want to read it but I’ve found that the easiest way for me to read a classic is to find a pretty edition. So once I have that, I will probably get around to reading it.

A POPULAR BOOK IT SEEMS EVERYONE BUT YOU HAS READ

Chana: A Court of Thorns and Roses. And the rest of the Throne of Glass series.

A Court of Thorns and Roses tog

Malka: SO MANY. An Ember in the Ashes, Cruel Prince, Wicked Saints. And guess what? I have no intention of reading any of them * laughs evilly *

An Ember in the Ashes The Cruel Prince Wicked Saints

A BOOK THAT INSPIRED A FILM/TV ADAPTATION THAT YOU LOVE, BUT JUST HAVEN’T READ YET

Chana: Well if Malka can use a comic book, then so can I! I loved the Kingsman movies, and I have gotten some of the comics, but I have never read any of the ones by the original writer, just the reboots.

Malka: Totally gonna cheat here so that I can hype up the TV show. I just finished watching Umbrella Academy with Chana, and it was AMAZING! I really want to read the comics now!

The Umbrella Acedmy

A BOOK YOU SEE ALL OVER INSTAGRAM BUT HAVEN’T PICKED UP

Chana: Godsgrave! It’s one of the many books that are in a series that I’ve abandoned. I keep on seeing it on Insta and then commenting, lol I have to read that before Darkdawn comes out.

Godsgrave

Malka: Priory of the Orange Tree. I’ve seen it EVERYWHERE, enough so that I’m willing to pick it up with barely any knowledge of what it’s about!

  2. Hahahaha thanks for tagging me! I have soooo many answers to these questions. 😉 I need to watch The Umbrella Academy everyone says they just consume it once they start. I have to read Godsgrave too! Maybe we need a buddy read?! (That maybe the only way I read it?!) ❤ And I’m interested in Little Fires Everywhere, that’s on my TBR too.

  3. Thank you so much for tagging me! I loved reading all of y’all’s answers. ❤ I saw a lot of books on here that are also on my TBR, as well as some of my favorites- Eliza and Her Monsters is SO good, and Pride & Prejudice is, too. I had to read Frankenstein for school, so I didn't enjoy it as much as I think I would have if I didn't have to annotate it (lol), but I actually liked it. Great post! 🙂

  4. Ooooh, thanks for the tag 😀 This is such a fun one! Your answers were great. I really enjoyed Little Fires Everywhere when I finally read it – I also felt like it sat on my TBR for ages 😉 I still need to read Eliza, ACOTAR and Priory, so I’m with y’all there! And Pride & Prejudice is fabulous – once you get used to the language, it flies by!

    1. Can’t wait to see your answers! I was inspired to start Little Fires Everywhere after writing this post, and while I’m only 3 chapters in, I’m really enjoying it so far!

Definitely read Eliza and Her Monsters! It’s a small little standalone, but it’s so good! I also love ACOTAR, but that requires more investment into a series, so understand if it takes you a while to get to it! Although personally I think ACOMAF makes the whole series worth it! 😍

      1. Ah, awesome! It’s quite compelling writing, and packs an incredibly powerful emotional punch as you progress! Excited to hear what you think of it 🙂

Mmmm, I’m definitely going to give Eliza and the ACOTAR series a go as soon as I can get my hands on ’em (and my bank balance allows!) 😀

    1. All the comments agreed with me so much, Chana went out and bought Eliza! I was going to spend my spring break finishing up series, but then I got sick and went on a contemporary binge instead. Maybe someday I’ll finish the Throne of Glass series! But I don’t think today is the day!

  6. This is such a fun tag!! I definitely felt the same way as you, Chana about the ACOTAR and TOG series. I ended up reading them last year and thought they were ok! This is also me jumping on the bandwagon and telling you to read Eliza and Her Monsters!! Malka, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on KoA too when you do finish it 🙂
